I took this photograph of a Velichappad during my visit to the Kodungalloor Sreekurumba Bhagavathy temple -Thrissur, Kerala, India. The occassion was the Meena Bharani festival. Hundreds (may be thousands) of enchanted Velichappads like this one congregate the temple and chant obscene songs. Men and women participate. This man cut an impressive figure with his 'lethal' sword and heavy anklet , quite composed in his demeanour . Even the passengers in the bus reciprocated his apathy.
